Regarding SN0100 and “Cloisonné & Co.”

Cloisonné & Co. was acquired by Mr. Liao Jiaming, founder of San Martin Watch, from a retired owner of a Hong Kong-based watch brand. The acquisition included both the brand itself and a batch of timepieces from the original collection.

According to the previous owner, these watches were originally commissioned and produced by a Swiss manufacturer. The production cost at the time was approximately HKD 18,000. The enamel used on the dials was imported from France—the same material used by renowned watchmakers like Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.

The most valuable and meaningful components of these watches are the enamel dials and the ETA 7001 hand-wound movements. However, due to storage conditions and the passage of time, the original cases and straps were no longer suitable for sale. To preserve the beauty and value of these dials, Mr. Liao initiated a restoration project.

In this new version, he retained the original enamel dials and ETA 7001 movements, while redesigning the case and all external components.

You may notice the "Swiss Made" text on the dial—this is because the watch was originally manufactured in Switzerland. However, due to the significant modifications, it no longer qualifies as a Swiss-made watch by current definitions. We are not marketing this as a Swiss-made product, and have removed any related markings from most of the product images on the listing.

Some customers might be surprised and ask, “Has San Martin gone crazy charging $999 for a watch?” But that is not the case.

The red dial version, for example, uses a solid 18K gold base weighing approximately 6 grams. Without even considering the engine-turned detailing or the value of the enamel work, the raw gold material alone costs nearly $480.

A decorated ETA 7001 movement typically sells in the range of $330–$400(ETA movements are hard to buy now).

In other words, if we were to recreate a watch with the same specifications from scratch, the cost of just these two components would already be nearly equal to the retail price.

Our goal with this restoration was to make full use of these valuable parts—bringing them back to life rather than letting them go to waste. (Mr. Liao himself has also kept a few SN0100 watches in his personal collection.) Once sold out, it is very unlikely that we will produce this kind of watch again.

Due to the high-temperature kiln-firing process involved in making the enamel dials, there may be slight variations on the surface, such as tiny bubbles. These unique characteristics are part of the charm of handmade enamel craftsmanship.

If you have any specific preferences regarding dial color, feel free to contact our service team or leave a note during checkout. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request based on available stock.
